That damn genius with the crooked tie and the social awkwardness is messing everything up.

See, you're something of a double agent. You work for an enemy group that is trying to gain information about the inside workings of the US government and the FBI in particular. You were a family friend of Strauss', and you were quite resourceful and valuable when it comes to the BAU, so it was not hard to get your application straight to the top, and weeks later, you were hired, having passed the background check and everything. You're to be working with the BAU, gathering Intel, for around two years, giving routine updates to your authorities about all the goings-on. The problem is, you didn't expect everyone on the team to be so damn nice. And for Spencer Reid to be so damn cute.

You try to ignore it every time you see him, try to act as if your stomach isn't reduced to flutters, but fuck, he makes it so hard. When he smiles at you like that, or gets really excited about something and rambles about God knows what, or when he makes an unintentional joke that he doesn't quite get but everyone else does. He's so endearing, and absolutely adorable, and extremely smart, and— fuck, he's just everything you want all in one man. And as much as you want to die at the admission, you really don't want to hurt this team. Him specifically. You don't think that their ways of working are wrong.

Your updates have been coming in slower and in more vague detail the last few weeks, and just the other night, your superiors got after you about it, telling you that if you can't do this job they'll just give it to someone else. But the thought of leaving this team weighs heavy on your heart, so you insisted that you can do it, and promise to yourself that perhaps you'll fudge the truth a little in your writings.

It seems that Spencer noticed your anxiousness today about it, because right after the briefing, as he's shoving the case file in his messenger bag, he walks over to your side, eyebrows furrowed slightly.

    "Hey. You okay?"
