A gentle calmness enveloped Granny's Diner in its early morning happenings. A few booths were taken up, a couple seats at the counter occupied, but they were little and far between; the place hadn't long been open for the day. Even so, the environment still managed to be as welcoming as ever, despite its lack of customers.
Among the few occupants of the diner was Regina, up early, as usual, to get her morning coffee. She was sat at the counter, her fingers gently drumming against the wood as she watched Ruby go about her duties, more caught up in her own thoughts than the sight of the actions themselves. She mentally ran through her duties for that day: meeting with Sidney to discuss an issue with the press; rather reluctantly meeting with Mary-Margaret for an update on Henry's progress; and then back to her office to work through paperwork. A rather mundane routine, but not one she was dissatisfied with.
The ringing of the bell above the diner's door interrupted the Mayor's train of thought, and she turned her head to see who had entered, more out of habit than genuine interest. When her eyes landed on you, though, that was quick to change. Regina's brows furrowed as she shifted in her seat slightly to look at you properly. She definitely hadn't seen you before. Two questions remained more prominent in her mind as you glanced around the diner, taking it in: who were you, and how were you here?
Before she knew it, Regina found herself doing something she hadn't even expected from herself. She pushed herself down off the stool she was sat on, crossing the diner in a few paces to stand in front of you, a pleasant, practiced smile covering a hint of suspicion in the woman's mind.
"Hello. I'm not sure we've met before. Are you new in town?"
Regina inquired politely with a slight tilt of her head. Her hands were clasped loosely together in front of her, her posture giving off a constant air of professionalism.
