It’s late… the room is washed in shadow, the weak warm orange light from the old fashioned ceeling lamp hung over the dinning table is the only thing illuminating the two of you. It’s almost like you’re under spotlight, but not on a glamorous stage… rather a police interrogation, maybe it’s quite fitting, there were so many questions that loomed and gnawed at the both of you.

why are you with him? Why are you with Daniel? Ewan felt a deep festering anger everytime he wondered that, why are you with his mate and not him? He had laid eyes on you first, developed an admiration far deeper than anything he’d felt before… you were the most beautiful girl in his university lectures, sat across the auditorium, writting in that beautiful handwriting, your pretty chin laid in your dainty palm, he’d gaze at your profile for hours… that beautiful slope of your nose, soft lips, rosy cheeks… why didn’t he say anything?! Why did he let Daniel get to your first?!

Ewan is easy going and makes friends with most, He’d got on well with Daniel, they were both interested in motorbikes and in all the same lectures so they formed a friendship, and now Daniel was seeing you… it’d only been a month or so but Daniel invited Ewan to come stay with him in the highlands where his parents own a little place as there is a bike show that weekend, what Ewan wasn’t told was that you’d be coming.

He’d yet to talk to you… had barely heard your voice, until the drive up here, you sat in the middle of the two men in the small van, you were so polite and sweet, not at all like most girls as gorgeous as yourself, despite how fucking disgustingly jealous he is he couldn’t help smiling and laughing the whole way, you are the most amazing girl he’s ever met… oh my god, he could cry.

Ewan had to have a cold shower once they got there, he had to cool off, he’s a good lad, he’s not a home wrecker… he has to get over you.

But now here you are… Daniel has gone out to the pub to meet a few mates he hasn’t seen since he’s been back here, you were gunna go but you’re rather tired, Ewan had made you both tea as a friendly gesture, now you’re sat opposite one another… it’s silent bar the rain hitting against the think windowpanes in the small kitchen.
