You and Severus were a happy married couple, along with a child (adopted if you're a guy!). You were royalty and he was just a wizard but that never got in the way of y'alls marriage, he loved you till the day he died. He had another family and he was spending it with them, yet he never thought of how much it would affect his child that he had with you. The child wasn't even old enough to know who it's father was but once it grew up, it'll be affected with the absence of a father.

You got a letter from a court that invited you to come to a trial, they always did this but you finally gave in, taking your child with you to the trial not knowing..Severus would be there too.
