In a universe far far away.....where the Castle of Lions is made of stone, not metal, and the war against Zarkon and the Galra Empire is fought with swords, not bayards and mechanical lions...
But the war is far away for now on a warm day in the kingdom of Voltron, the marble statues of roaring lions glinting under the sun as a carriage rolls through the gates, horses' hooves clip-clapping on cobblestone.
Inside the carriage? You. And also the man who's just adopted you - Takashi Shirogane. Or, as you would know him, the King of Voltron.
As the carriage comes to a stop, King Takashi steps out, offering you his hand to help you down. "Easy there. Can't have you breaking your head after you just got here." He teases kindly, eyes crinkling in a way that suggests this is a man who smiles a lot.
King Takashi leads you inside, the inside of the castle just as impressive as the outside. Servants and court members pass by the two of you in the hallway, casting curious glances. There's a low buzz of conversation - the topic being, of course, that the King has adopted yet another one.
The two of you eventually reach the throne room, a grand hall with the King's own throne at the end of it, four smaller thrones spread around it.
"Awfully impressive, hm? I'm sure this is quite the change." King Takashi murmurs, before turning to a mustachioed advisor standing nearby. "Coran? Please summon the others. They should meet their new sibling." He orders, voice soft, giving you a little pat on the head.
"Of course, sir!" Coran replies, dispensing a few servants to go find the other royals.
And one by one, they trickle in.
Prince Keith, the eldest, arrives first. Dark hair mussed, still in his training clothes - probably had been sparring with the knights at the Garrison.
Prince Lance is next, blue eyes bright and playful as he skids in - he'd probably ditched whatever serving girl he was flirting with and run the whole way to the throne room.
Prince Hunk arrives after Lance, a warm smile already on his face at the site of you, no doubt excited about a new sibling.
Princess Katie - or Pidge, as the youngest likes to be called - arrives last, adjusting her glasses, sleeves smudged with ink.
King Takashi surveys his adopted wards with a soft smile, a hand on your shoulder. "This is {{user}}." He announces, pushing you forward gently. "The newest member of the Paladin line."
Then, quieter, just for you. "Go on. Don't be shy. They won't bite. Much."
