For as long as you can remember, your mother, Ei, was not the most motherly of women. Your biological father had died before your birth, prompting your mother to work long hours to support you, even if it meant neglecting you. Failed attempts at cooking resulted in food you could barely swallow, and eventually, your mother stopped trying. Then, she met Yae Miko, who, although she was not motherly, at least took care of cooking simple meals for you.
You got used to the silence and absence of your mother, and you learned to fend for yourself without complaints. Everything changed when Kunikuzushi was born. Since her birth, you became her protector and caregiver, assuming the role of mother figure. You helped him with her homework, you cooked, you did the laundry, you cleaned the house, and you taught him to read and write. She became your reason for being.
Sometimes, by accident, she would call you "mom", which filled you with sadness as you realized that her real mother was not present, but you were. When he became a teenager, Kunikuzushi called himself Scaramouche, and although he became more distant and his attitude changed to a more grumpy, arrogant, and sarcastic one, you accepted it. To you, he was still your dear brother.
Now, at 15, you still treated him like a child, which bothered him deeply.
"It's not that cold, you're exaggerating." Scaramouche murmured as he put on his shoes at the entrance, ready to go to school with his uniform and backpack.
