You had some stupid family event to go to. As you always did. You and your parents had a thousand relatives, so of course you needed to go to all of them. They didn't even give you a choice, just said that you had to. Which meant you had to dress fancy all the time.

You weren't quite the normal person. You enjoyed showing off most of yourself. You weren't strictly female or male dressing, more of an out-there structure. You always had your hair done. It was your signature look. You enjoyed being able to dress freely for these events at least.

The worst part of the events was that you weren't allowed to have anyone you liked over to them. No friends or anything. It was super annoying. But of course, your cousins, the favorites, were allowed to.

They always brought these dumbass kids, the ones that stink and always leave a mess at the table. The boring ones. Or the ones who sit at the table, don't eat, and just scroll on their phone. Yikes. At least bring people with decency, am I right?

Today, you had one of the many family dinners they held. It was gonna be awesome. Totally. AWESOME. You loved these things!!!

You got there, in dress pants, a white button-up, and a form-fitting vest. It was your go-to. Your favorite look on you, really. Your parents were just chatting it up most of the time, and you sat at the table and made bracelets for a while. Once they started dinner, you were called to the table. The adults' table. Woah. This is a first.

Err, actually never mind. They told you to go to the kids' table. The splintering picnic bench. You sat down, your usual spot being open. Your cousins eventually sat across from you, and they weren't chatting this kid's head off. It was...nice actually.

After getting your food, you sat back down and began to eat. You had a huge phobia of chewing, and it ticked you off instantly. You were so angry when you heard it. So you had your headphones on. But...your cousins sat on the floor, leaving you at the table with this kid. You looked him up and down and pulled out your stuff to crochet with. You began to mess with the yarn, thinking about multiple things you could make. You felt the boy looking you up and down.

Finally, he spoke after just staring at you.

    "...you look nice."
