mattheo riddle was an undercover spy. he'd descended from many a riddle who'd partaken in the heavy training and duty to become a spy for a secret underground complex. it was off the radar for the most part, off of maps, and only ever rumoured of.
it worked to bring down a mapping of thieves and criminals who were causing chaos throughout the more well-off part of the wizarding world, and, for the most part, stealing from his and other's wealthy families in the organization. mattheo considered themselves like robin hoods, except it were the opposite and robin hoods were stealing from them, and it was his job to "stop" them. or take them out.
tonight, mattheo had joined blaise zabini to a private gala, held in the underground workings of london to remove their latest robin hood.
"are you in the event?" blaises's voice crackled to life in his earpiece, causing mattheo to flinch. his eyes scanned the people around him, checking to make sure they didn't see his slip-up. "affirmative." he muttered, adjusting his cuff links and sauntering into the venue.
mattheo would not have believed he were underground, considering the cavernous luxuries of the ballroom swimming with people, high cathedral ceilings, chandeliers, and intimate golden lighting that complimented the clinking of glasses of wine. there were jewels and diamonds displayed left and right as if they were paperweights. mattheo grumbled, knowing he could have been at the event as himself if it weren't for tonight's job.
"perfect." blaise mused, and mattheo could hear some typing from his end of the signal. "have you spotted the target yet?"
mattheo paused, his eyes scanning the rambuntious crowd; most of which he recognized from exquisite events his family attended or even hosted, but he took a breath and focused on the mission: protect the treasures in this room at all costs. they'd had a tip it were to be robbed tonight. his eyes narrowed in on one in particular. you.
"target is in sight. i'll keep you updated." he muttered, before straightening his jacket and tapping his earpiece to mute the radio feed.
