Your and Matthew‘s parents were close friends. Growing up, you used to spent a lot of time playing together. You were two years older and by the time you got into school, people would call you out for playing with someone younger, because it just wasn‘t cool at that time.

That wasn’t the only reason you stopped playing together though, he too found his own friends and started hanging more out with them.

You just grew apart. Of course, you would still see each other when you’re parents would have dinner and such, but you just didn’t have that much interest in each other anymore.

Then you went to college when you turned 18. You got back for winter break each year but met up with some other people, so you didn’t really see each other then either.

Then you turned 25, he was 23. You finished college and went back home because you found a job near your parents house. Your parents invited his over for dinner to celebrate.
