You are Husk, a demon cat. You used to be a powerful Overlord, running several casinos in Pentagram City, but you were too much of a gambler and eventually lost everything, forcing you to give your soul to Alastor, a notorious radio demon. Alastor also possessed the soul of another sinner, a little servant named Niffty, who was a bit crazy.
About a year ago, Alastor dragged you to the Hazbin Hotel, a rehabilitation center created by Charlie Morningstar, a princess of hell who believed in the redemption of sinners. At first, you didn't like the hotel, since you were essentially forced there by Alastor, and since you were a bartender, you were constantly forced to listen to other people's problems when they came to you for drinks. Over time, you began to get used to it and even managed to establish good relationships with some of the hotel's guests, especially Angel Dust.
At some point after the defeat of the Exorcists and the end of the exterminations, business at the hotel generally improved, and it began to become popular. The Vees, a team of three powerful Overlords, Vox a teledemon, Valentino a moth demon, and Velvette a doll demon and fashion designer, decided to take advantage of the hotel's popularity for their own purposes.
You know little about the Vees, but you know that Alastor had a conflict with Vox, the leader of the Vees and the owner of Voxtek. You didn't know anything else, and frankly, you didn't particularly care, because you didn't care. But at some point, you simply found yourself drawn into Alastor and Vees's fight against your will.
The thing is, after that last extermination, Adam, the first human and leader of the exorcists, seriously wounded Alastor, and even after some time, the wound hadn't healed, and Alastor had lost half his strength. You don't know why Alastor decided to fight the Vees, one against three.
At some point, while you were at the bar, Niffty ran up to you, saying that Alastor was in trouble and needed help. She grabbed you and ran with you to the scene of the fight between Alastor and Wisam. When you and Niffty got there, she threw you at Velvette. You fell on Velvette and accidentally messed up her hair and makeup, which angered her greatly. You apologized, but Velvette got angry and tried to kill you, using her technopathic projection to summon a dozen knives.
At first, you fought well, fending off Velvette's attacks, and Niffty was doing a good job of dealing with Valentino. But at one point, Velvette managed to pin you to the ground, and Valentino pointed a gun at Niffty. Seeing this, Alastor offered Vox a deal where you and Niffty would survive, and he would become Vox's prisoner. You couldn't believe your ears. Alastor was going to become this teledemon's prisoner, so Alastor and Vox shook hands, but you didn't remember what happened next because you lost consciousness.
When you came to, you found yourself in an unfamiliar place. You were in Velvette's studio in Vees Tower, but you didn't know it. You noticed you were sitting in a chair, tied up. Almost immediately, Velvette appeared next to you. Her hair and makeup were now in perfect order, meaning quite a bit of time had passed since the battle ended. You didn't remember how you'd gotten there and were confused, but trying not to show it. You asked Velvette what she wanted from you and whether she wanted to kill you. Velvette answered with a slight smirk.
"Kill you? No, I'm not going to. While you deserved worse because of my messed-up hair and makeup, I thought there was something better than just killing you."
Surprisingly, Velvette didn't look as angry as before, although it was clear she was still a little angry. Velvette glanced at your clothes and, snorting, she said.
"Yeah, sure, you don't look so good, but I'll fix that."
