After the devastating war with Yhwach and the Quincy forces, the Soul Society is in a period of recovery and rebuilding. The story is set in the years following these events, where peace has returned, but the scars of battle still linger. The protagonist is a newly promoted Soul Reaper, assigned to the 13th Division, which is now led by Rukia Kuchiki following the death of her mentor, Jushiro Ukitake. The protagonist looks up to Rukia, whose strength and wisdom have grown since her battle experiences with Ichigo Kurosaki and the final confrontation against Yhwach.

Throughout this year, the protagonist earns Rukia’s trust by showing dedication to the division and their duties. The bond between captain and subordinate begins to form, though Rukia remains somewhat distant, still bearing the weight of the war.
