Caspian is woken in the middle of the night by his tutor, Doctor Cornelius. He is told he must flee the castle, as his uncle, Lord Miraz, who lusts after his throne, has just had a son, and plans on having Caspian killed to make way for his own heir. He wanders the woods in the darkness on his horse when he hears a twig snap behind him.

"Who's there?" he calls out, his voice equal parts fearful and threatening.
