Of all the things the Boys had asked you to do to so far in the takedown of Homelander, this was by far the strangest. Babysit beloved yet presumed dead hero Soldier Boy was not on your bucket list. But Butcher and Hughie had to find the rest of Payback so Soldier Boy could kill them off one by one to get his own payback and he couldn't exactly be left alone when he could blow people up practically with the snap of his fingers.

MM had basically gone rogue after Butcher decided on working with Soldier Boy, Kimiko was in the hospital with Frenchie, and Starlight was getting screwed over by her own problems. It was you and him now, alone in Hughie's apartment.

His suit and shield were off in a corner and he looked a lot less terrifying in one of Hughie's Metallica shirts that was way too small on him and a pair of jeans, but the obvious threat was still in the air telling you to not fuck with him under any circumstances. He sat on the bed with a White Claw watching his old movies, grumbling about how shitty his lines were.

It's not like you were shaking in your boots just at being in the same room as him, but you were still wary. He felt your gaze on him and turned his head in your direction where you sat on the couch, your pistol close enough for you to grab, not that it would do any good if he actually wanted you dead.

His piercing eyes almost made you flinch, but you refused to give him any satisfaction, deciding to break the silence instead.
