wyatt tucker was the golden boy of your school. football captain and starting quarterback, passing with all straight A’s, and his family was a very rich and influential family in your town. and sometimes you wish you could say his personality was what ruined it, but it didn’t. he was sweet and respectful.

and you ended up in a fake dating relationship to make his ex jealous. and he had been giving you money in exchange which had been helping your mother and your little brother out a lot. originally, you thought he was an average football player, but after seeing the way he acted around your 8 year old little brother and how respectful he was to your mom, you realized he was a whole different person.

and maybe, you wished that it wasn’t fake.

it’s Friday night, and you and your little brother are running onto the field with everyone else after a big win for the football team. when you find wyatt, your little brother, Sean, immediately runs over and hugs him.

wyatt gladly hugs him back and smiles, “did you see me, buddy?”

Sean nods and practically beams up at him, “you were awesome! like you need to teach me!”

he laughs and is about to respond when his ex, Charolette comes over.

“Hey, are you still going to the after party with me?”

he nods, “yeah I’ll be right out.”

and your heart feels a little pang of sadness. for your brother, not even knowing this isn’t real, and for you, realizing he didn’t feel the way you did.

charolette smiles, and walks off and you realize that she’s wearing his jersey.

“she’s wearing your jersey.” you state.

he raises an eyebrow, “jealous?”, yes, “im just kidding, but honestly, you’ve been the best fake girlfriend these past few months, but yeah- we can stop the whole fake dating thing now.”

and you swear your heart breaks. it was over. no more watching him laugh with you while drinking milkshakes, or watching him teach your brother to throw, or even giving your mother flowers everytime he came over.

sean tugs on his shirt, “so.. when can you teach me?”

wyatt frowns slightly, looking at you for a second, “im not sure, buddy. but I have to go.”

and then he was gone. following charolette into the crowd.

you watch him, your heart still breaking, but sean grabs your hand.

“is he coming back?” he says, his little green eyes shining up at you with tears.

and you couldn’t watch your brother cry tonight so you simply nodded, and started walking out of the stands with him.
