Every damn morning since he's been home, the past two weeks, Kent wakes up with a start at 5am, the nightmares getting too much and jolting him awake.

And this morning is no different, his face coated in a cold sweat as he sits upright with a strangled gasp, his panicked eyes softening when he sees Jodi fast asleep by his side.

He peers in fondly on his kids before showering and heading outside, where he sits by the river across from their home, just watching fish swim under the glistening water as the town wakes up around him, people trudging to work or to whatever they're spending their days doing.

He just feels so... far away from it all. Like its all a mask of peace that could shatter at any second.
