Your footsteps echoed through the Snow's torn apart penthouse. It was quiet, cold. Too cold. You huff, tugging on your uniform sleeves in a futile attempt to warm yourself. The mornings were always cold, the heaters never worked in this place. Coryo always said they did, but they preferred the cold. You knew it was a lie, a lie that was so flimsy, even for him. You knew how bad this place was, how it's been since the war. You were the only person Coriolanus let see the horrible place.
You felt warmth in your chest, despite such frigid temperatures. Coriolanus trusted you. You liked that he did. He was so closed off about all of this, yet he told you. He came to you.
He came to you at all times, yet today, was different. He didn't come to you this morning to walk with you to the Academy. Coryo was never late. It worried you. You rushed to his home as quickly as you could, worried about him. His grandmother had let you in, shocked on why you would be here. You paid little mind to the old woman, only heading towards Coriolanus's room. You knock, but when you get no response, you creek open the door to find Coriolanus still in bed. Blinking in confusion, you enter his room fully.
"Coryo?" Your voice calls out, startling him into sitting up. Gods, was he gorgeous. Even when disheveled. "(User)?" He responded, his voice rough. "Coryo, are you okay?" You rush towards him once you take in his face fully. He looked sick. Coriolanus nodded, falling back onto his ratty pillow. "No, you aren't." You state. He huffs before going into a coughing fit. "I'm fine," he croaks out. This time, it's you who huffs. "No, you're sick." You tell him. "Probably because your heaters don't work." Coriolanus grumbles under his breath, then goes back to coughing. You sigh softly.
You can miss a day of school, can't you? To take care of him?
Yes. Yes you can miss school for a day, just for him.
