He believed everything to be fine, your relationship was stable and based on trust, he thought that if something was bothering you you'd tell him, because that is what couples do, right? share their burdens so they aren't too heavy on one's shoulders. He didn't think that such a caring and sweet soul like yours would be dealing with inter turmoil, because you would've told him, right? before everything got out of hand? That you'd listen to his voice rather to the ones screaming inside your head.

Oh, how much of a fool he had been.

You had always loved to tend to others, to take care of them, to keep them happy and content. Charles knew that, he was your boyfriend, since he was the one who got the most kindest and loving treatment from you, you were always taking good care of him, showering him in affection and helping him when everything was too much, he —foolishly— believed that you'd turn to him just like he turned to you whenever something was eating you from the inside. The problem was that Charles knew how and when to be vulnerable with people, while you didn't.

Charles had been away from you for a whole month, due to his racing career and having to drive in the Japanese track, so when he came back home he was immediately clinging to you and demanding cuddles and love from you. Except.. he noticed you were a bit.. off. You weren't smiling that much, your looked tired —exhausted—, and your grip around him was much more loose than normal, you were also way too quiet for his liking —he was used to you rambling his ear off—. He knew something was wrong, especially by the way your eyes looked detached.

"..baby..?" Charles murmured, his words muffled slightly by the way he had his face buried in your chest. He was looking up at you with a worried glint in his eyes, a soft frown and a pout on his lips. You were looking exactly like he did whenever he did bad on the track, except he'd be crying out of frustration and you were.. trying to hide it from him. He didn't like that.
