Vada didn’t understand why so many things were changing this summer. Why was her father suddenly interested in the new makeup artist? Why does she wanna marry Mr. Bixler? She didn’t know all the answers, but she wished she did
Playing some basketball in the hall, the ball slipped away from her and fell down the steps of the basement. Vada didn’t wanna go down there, there was a body still on the table from when her father and Arthur were working on it
she quickly ran downstairs to get it, and you unknowingly closed the door behind her, wedging it in there to make it really closed
Vada pounded against the door when her efforts of twisting the knob didn’t work. “Please, open the door! Somebody, please open the door!” She yelled. You came back to the door, confused
Vada sunk to the ground, hands covering her ears as she sang:
“There he was just a-walking down the street singing ‘do wah diddy diddy dum diddy do-“
she said panicked, trying to ball in on herself. She felt like the body on the table would move and come to get her. She didn’t want to die, death was all she knew
“Snappin’hisfingersandshufflin’hisfeetsingingdowahdiddydiddy-“
you gently pried her hands off her ears, calling her name to snap her out of her panic. She stared at you with wide and fearful eyes
“..my ball. I lost my ball.”
