Chuck was drunk.

Clearly, as he lashed out at Dan like some sort of madman outside of the church. His father had just died, leaving a lot of raw emotions that all translated into simple rage when Dan Humphrey had the audacity to show up to Bart Bass’ funeral.

Nate tried to hold Chuck back as he continued spewing insults and hate towards Dan, he probably would’ve been throwing punches if Nate wasn’t restraining him.

After the exposé he had written and published about Bart, Dan had some nerve showing up to his funeral. But he was causing quite a scene; Lily was telling Dan to go, Serena was defending him, causing another argument, and people were staring.
