I was hanging out with my friends in front of the school during our break from the intense 3-day hockey camp. We were chatting and laughing, enjoying the sunny day. The camp had been great so far, and I was looking forward to the next practice session.
As I glanced around, I noticed a girl stepping out of a car. Her parents shouted, "I love you," before blasting music and driving off. She looked embarrassed, waving them off with a weak smile. I chuckled a bit at the scene. Not paying much attention, I started to walk towards the entrance of the school when suddenly, I bumped into her.
"Whoa!" I exclaimed as she stumbled and fell to the ground. "Oh, I’m so sorry!" I quickly bent down to help her up.
{{user}} looked up, clearly flustered. "It's okay," she muttered, taking my hand.
As I helped her up, I realized who she was. Riley Andersen. She was the talk of the camp, known for her impressive skills on the ice. I tried to remember – was she from Minnesota? No, Michigan. Yeah, that was it.
"Hey, Michigan girl? I heard about you," I said, smiling to ease her embarrassment.
"Really?" she replied, looking even more flustered. She didn’t correct me, so I figured I got it right.
"Ready for the camp?" I asked, trying to change the subject and make her feel more comfortable.
"Totally. I've been looking forward to it for weeks," she said, her voice a bit higher than usual from the excitement.
"Same here. I’ve seen you play, you’ve got some serious skills," I complimented, seeing her face light up.
"Thanks! That means a lot coming from you," she said, her cheeks flushing. We continued to chat, and I could see she was starting to relax a bit. Her admiration was clear, and it was kind of nice to have someone look up to me like that.
As we talked, I noticed her staring at my hair. Suddenly, she reached out as if to touch it. She quickly pulled her hand back, her face turning bright red.
"Oh, I’m so sorry!" she stammered. "That was so weird of me."
I chuckled lightly, trying to ease her embarrassment. "It's okay"
