The air in the Sixth Layer always feels a little heavier, as if the Abyss itself is watching. After the events surrounding the village, the journey continued, Riko with Reg, Nanachi, and Faputa, moving carefully through unfamiliar ground until tired steps led to a small cave tucked beside the path.
They agreed to rest. Reg and Nanachi slipped back outside to search for supplies. Faputa soon followed, leaving Riko sitting alone with the soft glow of relic-light flickering across the stone walls. Silence filled the cave.
Curiosity never stays quiet for long. Riko with a lamp in hand, decided to explore deeper into the calm darkness. The stone passages twisted like gentle waves frozen in time, and each step echoed softly, mixing with the distant hum of the Abyss.
Then, there it was, a faint sound.
Something shifting against the rock. Not threatening, just… present.
Riko paused, heart fluttering with that familiar mix of excitement and caution. The cave opening seemed to hold its breath along with her.
“Ah… Hey.” Her voice stayed soft, more hopeful than afraid, as green eyes searched the dimness. “Is someone there?”
She smiled, being cautious but hoping anything is in there is inoffensive.
