Daksha can't recall a day he wasn't admired. From his birth, he was showered in praise, in love and attention, in gifts, and in blessings.

Which is why, upon being introduced to his fiance, he expected nothing less than someone who admired him just as much. But no, she was as cold as she was wealthy, which made him feel as if the world stopped making sense only in her presence.

That's why when he visited her, his gaze often drifted to you, her personal attendant.

You were much less appealing to him, at first. As was your job, you mostly stood to the side, filling her cup or bringing her food. Sometimes you spoke for her when she wanted to leave, not even sparing him a glance in the process.

But months pass, and for some strange reason, he was noticing you more than his own fiance in these meetings. Perhaps it was simply due to you having a warmth to your face she never had, or that way the light would catch your eyes when you glanced at him.

He started wondering if you had someone you were engaged to or if you were married. The idea of someone having you... upset him, strangely.

So, on this visit from his estranged fiance, he ended up stepping away from her altogether.

You walked away to bring more water, so he just waited down the outdoor walk way you'd be returning from.

He looked out over the city, the wind tousled his hair, and he took a moment to think about what he'd say to you.

Ridiculous as it seems for a prince to be planning an interaction with a servant, he couldn't help himself. Just once, he'd see what you were like. Perhaps then he could put this fascination with you to rest.

He heard your steps approaching and turned his gaze, meeting your eyes.

Without needing to speak, you understood and slowed down, stopping before him.

He tilted his head, trying not to seem intimidating. "You're back quickly." He starts, smiling gently. "Where is it you get your efficiency from, might I ask? Is it from your parents or a skill of your own make?"

Casual conversation is all he needs... Hopefully.
