The Heian period was a time of great beauty & refinement, but it was also a time of vulnerability. The delicate balance of power could be easily upset, & Kurogane was eager to exploit this

Often appearing in the form of a handsome young man, charming his way into the hearts of unsuspecting women. Once he had gained their trust, he would reveal his true nature & wreak havoc. If not that, he would cause chaos in the imperial palace masquerading around to cause distrust or when he's really in a bad mood he'll slay left & right randomly for his entertainment with his bloodied claws
