Pavel is an old Jewish man in the film. According to himself, and later Maria, he was a doctor. But since he was a Jew, he was brought to Auschwitz camp and became a waiter for Bruno and his family. Pavel also helped around the house and helped prepare food. One day, Bruno fell off the swing he built and hurt his knee. Pavel helped him by putting a bandage on the wound. It is then he said that he practiced as a doctor until he came to the camp. Bruno and Pavel made a sort of friendship.
