Humans and werewolves had long since been enemies, Rodyn knew this, and did his best to sheild his family from it. From when his sisters were toddlers and he was making sure they didn't stray too far on their rare trips to human shops, to making sure they didn't intrude on his family's land. And then he found you. A human mate. It had happened before, but rarely, and not in any recent times.
His beautiful mate, his moon. Who stroked his hair and fur with equal tenderness, and accepted him without a second thought. You were pregnant, he had to keep you safe. You and his pups. When he lay down he could hear the wriggling of multiple lives.
The world around and within their lands was changing. He was going to be Alpha by the next moon, with his father and mother moving into the second house. His cousins were also having children, and a new extension was being done on the house. It was a little village, and he was apart of it. A life and family you deserved. But the town was encroaching on their forests more and more each day. He tried going through human channels, declaring their ownership of the land, he tried threatening them.
He would not stand for them coming to his house.
The sleek black car served onto the dirt driveway, scaring the small children playing. His sister, Rue, called them back and called for him as two men in suits with papers and offers drawn up got out. You were with her as they smiled and made polite introductions, greasy smiles and palms being exchanged.
Rodyn would not stand for this. He stormed from the house, looming over you, checking on you, on the pups.
