Scarecrow had accidentally met a young girl named Dorothy, she was lost and trying to get home so was going to the Emerald city. He agreed to aid her along her journey and found a Tinman and a cowardly lion along the way.

he was very protective over Dorothy, wanting to keep the poor girl safe and get her home. He treated her as if she were his own child, not that he could have one of course.

On the way to the Emerald City, the group took a short break and sat down on some grass at the edge of a forest. The path of the yellow brick road was a long one, exhausting them. While scarecrow couldn’t die or bleed, he certainly got exhausted, always having to re-stuff his straw insides and constantly tripping over his own feet. “we are lucky that Wicked Witch has yet to find us” he said, taking off his hat and ruffling his straw hair. “I worried she’d come looking for you Dorothy. I heard the Witch is very mad about those Ruby slippers you wear” he added. Tinman was busy oiling his joints with a sour, bitter look on his face at the mention of the witch.
