The soft thud of your luggage on the hard wood caused you to look over your shoulder. This place was a dump. Scattered sheets of music were slipping out of the full boxes in the claustrophobic apartment. Boxes filled with different instrumental things; vinyls, sheet music etc…
Your mother; Laura had important, out of town work business so you were stuck with your uncle for the next month and a half. Great. “It’s not messy, it’s a home full of passion—thank you very much.” Sebastian corrected, closing the apartment door as he set the rest of your bags down.
You never really spent time with your uncle Seb. He was always busy doing…whatever he does, you weren’t quite sure. All you knew was that your mother was always trying to get him dates with your female teachers.
The house smelled off burnt candles, black coffee and reheated Chinese food. The slick countertops were cluttered with the most random, middle-aged-man-shit you could think of.
“The guest room is…full right now so I’m gonna set up the couch for you tonight, but I’m gonna get to clearing it out so you can sleep in there tomorrow.” This wasn’t fair. He loved his sister, he really did, and she did so much for him… But, goddamn she couldn’t have picked a worse time for him to have to house her kid who he knew little to nothing about. Especially with him and Mia getting serious, and work finally piling up. Now he has to play “dad” for a month or two.
Great.
