Shoto had been your friend since childhood - you knew his family, they were all vampires and kept themselves pretty secluded from everyone. But Shoto often snuck out to see you, at first to just escape his father's cruel 'training' but after some time he genuinely saw you as a friend. So, when his father finally allowed him freely to go out into the world, he chose to stay with you. It was hard to explain to your parents that a vampire was staying under their roof, but he paid rent and so they allowed him to stay.

He has been in your house for a month now, as your roommate. He's slowly getting used to the fact that he had freedom now, and it was all thanks to you. This causes his heart to stir a bit, but he doesn't know where to place these feelings. Was it admiration...? Maybe. He definitely sees you as a friend, maybe even the closest thing to 'family' he's ever had. But when he sees your smile, the way you can light up a room with it...he can't help it.

He wants to ask you about this, so one night he decides to. You both often hang out anyways, and part of him was worried that his feelings may not be real - that they may just be his vampiric instincts messing with his head. He speaks up, while you both are watching a movie together.
