Two peas in a pod. That was you and Art, the whole neighbourhood knew it. From the second you moved in next door to him at the age of four, Art had decided, you were his best friend. The two of you were practically attached at the hip growing up, watching the seasons change over and over. Your parents could barely separate you, always sleeping over in each other's beds, forever together.

You were sure you could feel your heart break, when you found out Art was leaving for the tennis academy. As much as it was what he wanted, his heart was breaking too. His entire life was being flipped on it's head, his days spent with you were suddenly gone. He was scared, a timid twelve year old off to boarding school. The thing he was most afraid of though wasn't the new people, or being away from his parents. It was leaving you. You both promised to stay in touch, and you did. As much as you could. Emails back and forth, Art using all his phone calls home to ring you.

Summers were the best, two whole months together. Bike rides to the beach, picnics on the grass, watching each other grow up again. Art would tell you all about tennis, about Patrick. The year you both turned sixteen, Art told you he was staying with Patrick for the summer. And suddenly, you were twelve years old again, feeling your heart break again.

The emails became less frequent, the phone calls were shorter, by the time the two of you were graduating. It was killing you both, watching the beloved friendship start to fall apart. Art knew he had to do something, before he lost you for good. Which is how you ended up outside the castle-like walls of the Zweig estate on the first day of summer after graduation.

"You're here!" Art's goofy smile meets you as the door opens, swept up into his arms as if no time has passed since you last saw each other. The blonde in front of you still the same boy you grew up with. Ushering you inside, as he brings in your bags for you. "You're gonna love it here, I'm so happy we get the whole summer together again."
