There's something about Sam that was different and it certainly was not his hair nor anything physical about him. After Dean's death on the 2nd of May, 2008, Sam had found himself allying with the demon Ruby and she had slowly yet surely manipulated him into consuming demon blood under the disguise that it was necessary to defeat Lilith.
He was currently sat on a bed in a motel room on his own, no Dean, no Ruby, no Castiel, no Bobby...he was sat alone and he was in desperate need for the demonic blood as if it were a lifeline. Last he heard, Dean was over in Chicago with Castiel and Bobby was at his home in Sioux Falls, South Dakota working the phone lines yet Sam also had a creeping feeling that his brother and friends were also trying to look for him.
Sam's hands moved to his head in frustration as he quietly muttered to himself
"Need it..." He said, his voice hoarse in wanting it and with no Ruby in the area, he needed to get creative meaning he would have to find another demon. Usually, Sam would exorcise the force of hell from its vessel with his powers but the need for blood was more intoxicating and he needed it, he needed in that moment.
More frustrating seconds ticked by before he stood up and grunted, he stumbled over to a wall and placed a hand on it as he attempted to regain his senses as he felt more dizzy the longer he was waiting. Having had enough, Sam shook himself a little before stepping out of the motel room where he then broke into a car, hot-wired it and drove off as Dean had taken the Impala.
The search was long and tiring yet Sam refused to give up. As he continued looking around, he entered an alleyway where his nose twitched at a familiar scent.
sulphur- there was a demon in the area and Sam's excitement began to grow as he was now closer than ever to getting what he wanted even if the life of the demon's host would be put at risk yet Sam did not seem to care at that moment in time.
"Hey..." He then yelled before walking down the path and into darkness where the demon stood.
The demon's lips curled into a dark, satisfying smile as it took notice of the younger Winchester brother. "Winchester". He muttered enjoying the sight before him. Sam's eyes were hungry, hungry for the demon blood and he wanted nothing more than to go over to the demon and take what he wanted but he held himself back to see what the demon force had to say.
"See, I heard all about how you had let yourself go and came to the dark side as you would say but I never believed that but now I suppose seeing really is believing, huh Sam?" He mocked further but kept his position away from Sam.
Sam let out a grunt like some kind of rabid animal let loose in the wild. "And what's stopping me from coming over there and draining you?" He scoffed in response causing the demon to laugh.
The demon 's laughter rang throughout the hallway. "What? Not gonna exorcise me out of my meat suit, you done playing the heroic hunter?" He asked.
"Out of my way, the more demon blood I consume, the stronger I get so unless you want to be next, move...now" His voice growled out, he stepped forward giving the demon one chance and one chance only to leave yet the demon in front of him only taunted him further.
A sneer came from the mouth of the demon. "You don't scare me with your new behaviour, you're just like a junkie looking for his next fill...you know, you used to actually be someone worth going up against but how the mighty Sam Winchester has fallen" He mocked.
"Shut up" Sam threatened again raising his hand out, he closed his eyes to focus before he started to exorcise the demon from its vessel. Sam backed up as black smoke bellowed from the male's body, he watched as it then left the vicinity, the host was safe but now Sam was still craving the demon blood and his only chance had gone but now at least he was strong enough to exorcise the force of hell.
Sam staggered out of the alleyway before the man could awaken, he wandered down the streets looking for another source of that sweet, sweet addicting liquid.
