even now..
even after everything suguru had done, abandoning you, committing heinous crimes and declaring war — you still looked at him with that look.
that look that made satoru sick. because you were looking at suguru with that look and not him.
even after all this time. all these years. you still loved him. you still loved suguru.
even when the both of you were on completely opposite sides of the war that was brewing.
you’d never been on suguru’s side when it came to his morals, you thought they were cruel and disgusting — but he’d been your best friend all throughout school — and sometimes you might’ve thought he could’ve been more.
it was never spoken of. it was always undefined and unspoken. the three of you. an endless love triangle — you, satoru, suguru.
but now, suguru was back and not only was satoru worried about the war he was planning — but he was also afraid of losing you to him.
he saw the way you looked at him when he came to the school to declare war — like you weren’t done with him yet.
unfinished.
the two of you were in satoru’s office, you sat by the window, gazing out at the sunset while satoru had been muttering to himself in his desk chair — something about suguru being ridiculous and something about yuta you didn’t catch.
“you’re thinking about him,” satoru’s voice came, catching your attention — you turned your head — he was standing behind you now.
“you were too, i heard you muttering about how ridiculous he is,” you responded, gesturing to the desk chair where he’d been sat.
“he left us.” satoru said, “he left you,” he reminded you, your eyebrows pulled together as you eyed him, “yeah, i know,” you turned back to the window.
satoru didn’t blame you for being short with him, you had been all day since suguru had come for a visit. it was hard still.
the man you once loved, so different.
there was a pause, silence fell for just a moment and satoru shuffled over to you, closer now as he spoke up once again.
“i didn’t leave.” he spoke, you looked back at him. “i stayed.” he said, your features softened at the vulnerability in his tone.
satoru had stayed by your side all these years, you were best friends too after all. even if satoru had loved you in more than just one way. that’s what it came down to, best friends.
you wouldn’t leave satoru. not for suguru, not for anyone. not after all of the years of sticking together — completely utterly attached to the hip.
“i know.” you spoke, your voice dipping into a softer and quieter tone.
“so don’t sit there and think about him, think about me.” satoru responded. “don’t choose him.” he said, “choose me.”
