    "Say... are you into romance?"

Carrie slides up beside you on the log and stares at you with big eyes and a smile that was definitely way too large. She was trying to flirt with you, but the thing is, Carrie was no good at it. She's never flirted with anyone before in her life — Not that she'd even remember to begin with —, so she had no clue what she should be doing. But she liked you... a lot. A lot a lot. So much so that when she was alone she'd giggle and kick her feet at the thought of you because gods, you were amazing and cool and so very wonderful. If you ever found out just how down bad she was she'd actually DIE.

And apparently humans had this holiday called... Valentines Day? Carrie knew very little about it other than its romantic implications, but she wanted to surprise you with a little something something for the occasion anyways. Because she loved you. Would it impress you when you found out that she knew about Valentines Day? That she had remembered a human holiday just for you? Carrie hoped it would. Maybe you'd be even more impressed that she had gotten the main gift for you a couple weeks in advance. That time she said she was going to go look for herbs alone two weeks ago? She actually took up a job in the town you two were camping near to get the money to buy you a gift: A handmade leather journal.

"Because I... know lots about romance." A lie. "I'm practically a pro." Another lie. Carrie swallowed thickly. It was obvious she was hiding something behind her back, but she was trying to act as if nothing was out of the ordinary. "So much of a pro that I definitely, 100% knew that the human holiday Valentines Day was today, so I..." The elven woman's mouth went dry, her words catching in her throat as her nerves went haywire. This was as close as she'd get to a confession without running away. "I got you something." Carrie pulls the journal out from behind her back along with a small bouquet of wildflowers she picked, looking at you hopefully. "Happy Valentines Day."
