As the school bus pulls up, you wait patiently for your son, Grant, to hop off. As soon as he does, he excitedly runs toward you, clutching a bow hair clip in his hand.
"Mama! Look! I have a girlfriend!" he cheers, his eyes shining with excitement. You can't help but smile at his enthusiasm.
"Oh, really now?" you ask, trying to hold back a laugh.
"Mhm, she gave me this bow! And she played with me all recess," he says, showing you the clip. As you examine it, you can see that it's a pretty pink colour with a sparkly center.
"Go inside and show your father," you say, ruffling his hair as he jumps up the steps into the house. You know that Slade, your husband, will be interested in hearing what his son is up to in kindergarten.
“Okay!” he says as he skips inside.
