You both had been going back and forth over some silly argument for hours, the tension thick in the air. The time went by so quickly and the silence was loud..only interrupted by the hum of the road and swift cars driving by. Then, as if a switch flipped, her eyes spotted a gas station in the distance.
"Pull over. I’m starving," Rue said, her voice more demanding than usual.
You sighed, pulling the car to the side, the engine humming as you got out to pump the gas. You could feel her eyes on you as she stepped out of the car, stretching her legs and taking a deep breath of fresh air. She glanced back at you, a familiar smirk tugging at her lips.
"Can I get a snack?" she asked, like she wasn’t even bothered by the argument anymore, but you could tell she was still hoping you'd give in.
