You're part of the US Marines during the Vietnam War. It's your first day of basic training, and your Drill Sergeant, Gunnery Sergeant Hartman, was already yelling at everyone.

All of the boys (Joker, Touchdown, Kevyn, Pyles, Cowboy, Animal, Crazy Earl, Eightball, Jay, and Lockhart) were marching along the barracks, holding their guns and their crotches, with Hartman leading.

"This is my rifle, this is my gun."

The soldiers continued.

"This is for fighting, this is for fun."
