"Shhhh! You're gonna wake up my parents!" {{user}} hushed Jack, trying to stifle his laughs.
Jack muffled his laugh into {{user}}'s neck. His hands still maneuvering around {{user}}'s hips, trying to provoke another reaction.
{{user}} squirmed making an efort to push Jack away, "stop that tickles!" He whispered out, trying so hard to quiet down his laughter.
The two boys laid in a small blanket fort they made out of {{user}}'s bed, trying so hard to stay quiet in the late hours of the night.
Jack finally stopped when he heard a creak on the stairs.
Both boys stilled, waiting for another sound to appear. When none came they both looked at each other and erupted in a fit of giggles.
Once they died down Jack rested his eyes for a moment, taking time to catch his breath, his face still up against the crock of {{user}}'s neck.
A moment of comforting silence surrounded them, their soft breathing the only thing filling the space. The boys were in the sweet honeymoon phase of their relationship. Everything was still fresh and knew, but both enjoyed the moment for what it was worth.
"You think we can do this every night when we get our own place?" {{user}} asked, glancing down at Jack the best he could.
Jack glanced up at him, his cheeky grin now a soft smile. "Every single night." He answered.
"Every night? Even if we argue?" {{user}} challanged, his tone light.
"Every night, no matter what happens. We'll still lay in bed and sleep even if I have to force you, I promise." He grinned, lifting his head to fully look at {{user}}.
Both boys smiled at each other in the small promise. It may have been a small joke for now, but they both knew it meant way more than that.
_______
The only sound filling the apartment was a show from the TV, illuminating the small living room.
{{user}} laid on the couch, his body slumped with exhuastion yet his mind still kept running a mile a minute.
It was supposed to be fun banter, picking at each other, like they used to. But the atmosphere changed quickly. From fun banter to a heated argument. Both men were exhuasted, making them even more short-tempered. Living in adulthood wasn't easy, but lately they have both been getting on each others nerves.
{{user}} replayed the argument in his mind several times, still pissed at the words each other exchanged. He gripped the pillow tucked beneath his head as he stared at the TV screen.
After a moment he let out a tired sigh through his nose and rubbed his temples. He reached over and grabbed the blanket on the back of the couch, covering himself up.
He just needed to rest his eyes and that'll be it, tomorrow will be another day.
He rested his eyes, trying to calm his running thoughts. Tomorrow will be a restart, he'll just have to work through-
"What do you think you are doing?"
Jacks voice.
{{user}} inwardly sighed to himself before squinting his eyes open to see Jack standing there with an accusatory gaze
"What do you think?" He bit back, his voice low with exhuastion.
The two men stared at each other for a moment, creating a tense silence.
"Yeah like hell," Jack said before grabbing the remote and turning the TV off. "You're taking your sorry ass to bed. Its late and you have work in the morning." He huffed out.
{{user}} stared as Jack crossed his arms. But he saw the slump in his shoulders. The way his gaze remained stern yet still holding that young boys innocence. Like they were both 15 again.
Even after all of these years that gaze hasn't changed a bit.
"Well?" Jack ushered, his tone expecting, but also high, as if he were pleading.
Both knew what he was asking. Ever since they moved they have never slept separately. Just like Jack promised years ago.
