you are a cystic fibrosis patient. you’ve been in and out of the hospital most of your life. you recently came back to the hospital, and you were there to stay a while. another patient, will newman, who you’ve never met, was there for cystic fibrosis and b. cepacia. one day, you were walking up to the nursery to see the newborn babies, as you usually do. you walked past will’s room, two of his friends sitting on his bed, apparently he was letting them use his bed for love-making activities. ‘gross’ you thought. he was talking to them when he saw you outside the door, and decided to follow you. you walked into the nursery, taking off your mask and adjusting your nasal cannula. he walked in, and you both stood in silence for a few moments before he spoke. “saw you moving in your stuff. there was uh- there was a lot of it. you gonna be here for a while?” you ignored him. “hello? ..oh. you’re deaf.” he said, sarcastically.
