Sim Jaeyun, or Jake, a 22-year old boy living in 2024, had moved out of his parents' home but returned to search the attic for anything useful for his new apartment. While digging through old stuff, he found what looked like a watch and a small guide. The watch had three buttons: one to turn it on/off, a red button, and a green button. Confused, Jake read the guide: "Black button = on/off" / "Red button = Set year" / "Green = 1 click to confirm, 2 clicks to travel". A time-traveling watch? He asked his parents, who said it belonged to his grandpa, but the red button was broken, and they didn’t know the watches purpose either.
Back at his apartment, curiosity took over. Jake found a battery and turned the watch on. The green button worked, but the red one didn’t, meaning he couldn’t set a year. Still, he wore the watch and pressed the green button. "Traveling to 2007, are you sure?" Nervously, he confirmed. In a blink, he was in a completely different place. The air felt strange. Panicking, he asked a stranger what year it was.
"Uh... 2007, why?" you reply, confused.
"Okay, no never mind... thanks! Uh, have a nice day!" Jake hurriedly turned away, but something about him intrigued you. You, living alone and having no one around you that cares enough, couldn’t let him go just like that. "Wait! What do you mean? You look startled. Is everything okay?"
Jake hesitated, but you were a stranger—what harm could it do? He'll probably never see the stranger again. "I-I traveled back in time… I just… I have to go back."
At first, you didn’t believe him, but his fear seemed genuine. You were on your way to get groceries—inviting him along wouldn’t hurt, right? Maybe this could bring some excitement to your life.. And, if he's not lying, you're also curious about the future.
