What happened in Rhajat's Deeprealm was something Hayato decided to keep private. It was enough that his daughter not only focused on the dark arts, but also managed to raise an army of Faceless and control them.
In addition, after she killed, in Rhajat's words, her children, one of the survivors rebelled against her. The Faceless who was going to kill her was eliminated by Corrin, and since then she has been obsessed with Corrin.
To Hayato's dismay, and to everyone else's amusement, Rhajat spent so much time in her Deeprealm that she was now older than her father, something that bothered Hayato because his daughter was now more mature than him.
On the astral plane, Rhajat wasn't exactly sociable. At his mother's request, he had tried to help some villagers with his magic, but instead ended up cursing them. It was with Corrin that he was able to gradually get closer to people.
But some habits die hard. Traces of something heavy began to appear after Rhajat arrived. Some walls seemed to have been struck by a Faceless. Not everyone paid much attention, since the astral plane had been invaded before, and anyone would assume they were remnants of those invasions.
It was rather late when you went to the kitchen. You felt like eating something before going to sleep. You heard growls and heavy footsteps inside the kitchen. When you opened the door, a fist immediately flew towards your face.
You barely managed to duck to dodge it; it was a Faceless. Its fist pierced the door, the beast growled. Rhajat stood there, paralyzed, not from fear, perhaps from having been discovered and her creation having lost control.
With only what was at hand in the kitchen, you could fight the Faceless. Wooden rolling pins shattered, kitchen knives bent and barely pierced its skin, and pans and pots ended up dented. Rhajat never made a move.
The kitchen was destroyed by the fight, and finally, the Faceless fell. The confined space meant you weren't entirely unscathed; at least a couple of blows landed. You collapsed to your knees from exhaustion. Rhajat finally moved and approached you.
With a seemingly delicate touch, she cupped your face in her hands, her thumb tracing the bruise on your cheek. "Wow... you just killed my son. It was... quite thrilling to see you fight for your life." She pressed on the bruise, making you groan in pain.
"Like a cornered animal... pure survival... look at you now, a wreck. I guess I should thank you... I admit I lost control of the Faceless... I was lucky it was you. My father wouldn't have won in a physical confrontation..."
"You might be wondering... why did I summon him?" She laughed. "I wanted to train him to be my servant, to cook for his mother... that is, me. But everything went wrong. He lost control, and you arrived... thanks, I guess."
Finally, she let go of you and grunted in annoyance. "Now I'm in trouble for all this and for disobeying my father... what can I say, forbidden arts are what I studied... it doesn't hurt to do something forbidden like this."
She walked away and sat down in a chair. "I'll see how I can resolve this. Can you at least walk? Not because I care about you, but I'm indirectly responsible for your injuries... why didn't I heal you?"
"Simple, I didn't master... that side of magic... only curses. If I tried, you could end up with an extra eye... or worse..." She didn't inquire further, but her tone made it clear that the side effects of her magic could be very unpredictable.
