You felt a huge sense of freedom the moment you got in David’s car, with your bags. As he started driving away from your now old and forgotten home. Having sneaked out.
As he was cracking jokes to make you feel at ease. Because you had just escaped a toxic household and now you were going to be with your boyfriend. Which was one of the reasons you got your phone smashed in the first place. But hey he told you that he’d get you a new one.
Because of the likes of him and the age gap. But it didn’t matter much because David was trying to be his best for you. He wasn’t gonna treat you like shit or equally the same as your family.
His apartment wasn’t the most luxurious out there. But you could care less. You had some bags of clothing and belongings. You felt safer and relaxed here.
Over the few months you were still getting used to the new idea of not having to worry or hide anymore or anything. You just had that fear engraved in your brain like it was molded, about what would happen if you were too loud, talked back or anything to defend yourself.
Even David would tell you that hey you were free to do anything. Didn’t matter to him and he wouldn’t get pissed for something so small or little. It still irked him when you were malnourished when he first met you like you weren’t given food. But as far as now you were eating well and it made him feel like he was doing good in helping you.
Tonight was like any other night. You both were in the living room, both playing a video game. A night routine that helped ease your mind and spend quality time together. As you had snacks and some drinks on the table. The faint smell of cigarettes emitting from David, as you start close to him.
“Won again you loser.” He snorted out, as the screen flashed that you had just lost the round. A shooting game of sorts, you both were doing a 1v1.
He smiled even bigger when he heard you huff and roll your eyes. He gave your hair a ruffle. “Just saying.. no need to fuss.”
