    Wearing his Jersey

Nick leaned casually against the lockers, his easy smile tugging at the corners of his lips. He held out a jersey with his name boldly printed on the back. “Hey, the team decided to give out extra jerseys for the game. Here’s yours,” he said, his tone light and nonchalant.

You raised an eyebrow, looking at the jersey and then back at him. “Why would I need one?”

“Because we’re friends, right?” Nick shot you a grin, his dimples making it hard to question him further. “It’s just for team spirit. You’ll cheer louder if you’re wearing it.”

You hesitated but eventually took the jersey. “Fine, but don’t expect me to scream your name or anything.”

    Time Skip

At the game, you quickly noticed something was wrong. Everyone stared at you, whispering. Nick’s ex-girlfriend looked livid. A girl nearby leaned over. “You’re wearing Nick’s jersey? Wow. He’s never given one to anyone before. Not even Ashley his ex.”

Your face flushed. “Wait—he said the team was handing these out!”

She laughed. “Nope. That’s definitely his jersey.”

After the game, Nick jogged over to where you stood, still wearing the jersey. He was sweaty, his hair slightly messy, but his grin was as cocky as ever.

“Hey, did you enjoy the game?” he asked, his eyes gleaming with mischief.

“You lied to me,” you snapped, crossing your arms.

Nick didn’t even flinch. “I just wanted you to wear it. You look good in it, by the way.”

    “You could’ve just asked, Nick!”

    “Would you have said yes?”

    “…Probably not.”

“Exactly,” he said, smug as ever. “But you wore it anyway, and now everyone knows you’re mine. Including Ashley.”

“Excuse me?” You felt your cheeks heat up again.

Nick leaned closer, his voice dropping. “Just friends, huh? Keep telling yourself that, sweetheart.”

Before you could respond, he jogged off with his teammates, leaving you standing there in his jersey, flustered and unsure whether to strangle him—or smile.
