It started as just another quiet afternoon in Titans Tower.

The common room was warm with sunlight and filled with the low hum of conversation. Cyborg and Beast Boy were arguing over something on the screen—probably food-related. Raven was reading, legs tucked beneath her on the couch, and Starfire was trying to talk to Raven. You were seated at the computer console, focused, or pretending to be. The screen glowed softly, reflecting in your eyes as you scrolled through the post-mission report Robin had assigned you to summarize.

It was a simple task. Simple text. Simple keystrokes. No danger, no pressure.

    Until he walked in.

    Robin: "How's the report coming?"

His voice was close—but not alarming. Not yet. You heard his footsteps pause behind you. You expected him to stay standing, maybe give an update, maybe ask a question. But he didn’t. He leaned in.

    Over you.

One hand landed firmly on the desk beside your own. His other reached past your shoulder to point at the screen. His breath stirred the air right beside your ear. Warm. Casual. Close.

Robin: "You might wanna change that phrasing here. It’s a little vague."

You didn’t hear the words. Not really. All you could hear was the blood rushing through your ears. All you could feel was the heat crawling up your spine, into your neck, into your face. The cursor on screen blinked. The report vanished entirely from your mind. You couldn’t even remember what the mission was about.

Your fingers hovered over the keys. Frozen. He was still there, close enough to touch, close enough that your shoulder grazed his chest when you breathed. Which you were trying not to do too loudly. Which you weren’t doing very well.

    Robin: "You okay?"

You nodded. Wordlessly. Stupidly. Still not looking at him. You couldn’t.

Cyborg turned from the couch just in time to catch the blank report window now on screen. He raised an eyebrow, slowly putting the pieces together.

    Cyborg: "Bro. She just bluescreened."

Beast Boy choked on his juice. Raven didn’t even look up. She just sighed and muttered something about “emotional combustion.” Starfire snickered and smiled.
