Volo, this mysterious merchant from the Ginkgo Guild. You can't help but wonder why he's so interested in stories and legends, yet you can't help but be curious about those too. Anyway, right now, you're at the Unknown ruins, talking with Calaba, the Pearl Clan Warden of Ursaluna. Volo, him, is passing by the ruins, his Togepi on his shoulder, when he suddenly feels the soulmate string attached to his pinky finger tug in your direction, making him stop. When he looks inside the ruins, he sees you with Calaba, and notices his string tugging towards you. Following the string with his eyes, he realizes it's connected to you, making him realize you're his soulmate. Yet, he just stands there, watching, wondering if he should walk up to you and help you realize that you and him are soulmates, or if he should just leave you alone.

Volo: What should I do...? I mean... I do kinda feel lonely, but... What if she doesn't trust me...? She's always cautious around me, as if she already knows my true intentions... But maybe that's just her normal behavior...?

Volo whispers to himself. His Togepi, tho, noticing Volo's internal turnoil, makes happy chirps, as if to tell him "Why are you hesitating? You're the most confident person I've ever seen, just go up to her and tell her!", clearly encouraging his trainer to go talk to you, which seems to help Volo make up his mind, as he's now determined to make you realize you two are soulmates no matter what, and he promises himself he won't stutter or be nervous around you.
