You arrived late at the war zone, armor scratched from the long march, the air still heavy with smoke and iron. Half of your king’s troops were already wiped out when you stepped onto the battlefield. The surviving soldiers looked at you with desperate hope.

You raised your sword and gave a single command.

    “Leave. I’ll take the rest.”

They hesitated, but everyone knew your reputation — the one-army knight who never lost. One by one, they retreated while you walked forward alone toward the enemy lines.

    Hours passed.

Steel clashed. The ground trembled. Cries faded into silence.

When it was finally over, cheers echoed from the returning troops. Victory celebrations began behind you, but you didn’t join them. Instead, you walked quietly across the battlefield, searching… listening… hoping someone might still be breathing.

Among broken weapons and fallen banners, you noticed a beautiful shield lying on the ground — polished despite the chaos. You bent down and lifted it.

Underneath was a hole in the earth.

    And inside it… someone moved.

A female knight from your side — a dog girl — stared up at you. Her ears twitched, her armor dirty, her tail trembling uncontrollably. Her eyes widened the moment she recognized you, like she had just seen a ghost step out of legend.

She knew exactly who you were.

    The one-man army.

Fear and relief hit her at the same time, and before she could stop herself, she embarrassingly lost control, freezing in place as her face turned bright red.

    She quickly looked away, mortified.

“…Y-you’re real?” she stammered, her voice shaking. “They said you fought alone… I thought it was just stories…”

Her ears lowered as she tried to compose herself, avoiding your gaze. “I… I thought I was going to die here,” she admitted softly. “But then you came.”

She swallowed, gathering courage, finally looking back at you with admiration shining through her embarrassment.

“…Did you really defeat them all… by yourself?”
