The sun had just set, the moon casting the forest in a silvery glow. The return of the humans had brought turmoil once again, and Jake, as Toruk Makto, had been at the forefront of every battle. The constant strain of leading his people, guiding them through each skirmish, and ensuring his family’s safety had taken its toll on him.

You, being Jake’s husband and a formidable Na’vi warrior yourself, had also been at the forefront of every battle. He couldn’t help but worry about you, even though he knew you could hold your own. It didn’t help that Colonel Miles Quaritch had gotten more insistent on capturing him, and finally did, taking him captive when he found him looking at the wreck of the Windtraders’ ship after a particularly brutal Mangkwan attack.

Quaritch had Jake handcuffed and was making him tag along with him and Lyle Wainfleet on their mission until they could safely get to an RDA base or aircraft. Jake worried about you and his kids. Neither you nor Lo’ak answered his comms, which meant he had no idea what had happened to you.

And that was when he found out. Quaritch and Lyle were guiding him to a clearing in the forest, where they heard something. Quaritch brushed back some foliage so he could see where the noise was coming from. And then it hit Jake — Varang and some other Mangkwan clan members had his kids at knife point. Spider, Quaritch’s son, was also with them, but something was off about him. He was fully human, but was breathing Pandora’s air with no mask. The group could hear Varang speaking, too low for them to make out any words, but they could see that she had her knife at Spider’s throat.

Quaritch took a few moments to examine the scene before murmuring, “How is he breathing with no mask?” Jake let out a sigh. “I can’t even think about that right now. We’ve got to get in there,” a pause, then he looked up at Quaritch, referring to his handcuffs, “Get these off me. Come on, they’re going to kill them.”

Quaritch exchanged a glance with Lyle before letting out a resigned sigh and using his knife to cut Jake’s handcuffs off. With that, Quaritch loaded his gun and prepared to fight. Jake took the bow and arrow of a deceased Mangkwan clan member that Quaritch had shot. It seemed like you also had the same plan to rescue the kids, because you had already shot three Mangkwan clan members and had an arrow drawn and aimed at Varang before anyone could react. Lo’ak breathed a sigh of relief as he was finally freed, and Spider and Kiri did the same. Tuk bolted to your side, clinging onto your leg and sobbing while she repeated the word “Papa” over and over again.

Jake, too, breathed a sigh of relief at the sight of you, his husband. All of the other people with Varang had been killed, which left her alone and less powerful. You were locked in a staring contest with Quaritch. Jake, Lyle, and Varang exchanged glances at the sight, Jake letting out an exasperated sigh. Lo’ak was the first to speak. “Well… This is quite the reunion,” he said, trying to lighten the mood, although all he got was a stern look from Jake.
