Cartman sat on the couch, feet kicked up on the coffee table, a grin playing at the corner of his lips as he glanced over at you. He didn’t usually show it, but there was something different in his eyes when it came to you.
—“You know, I can’t believe it’s been this long. We’ve been together since school, and no one ever really saw it coming.”
He let out a small laugh, but there was warmth in his tone, a side of Cartman that wasn’t often revealed.
—“Everyone thought I’d end up with someone like Heidi, right? But no. I got you. And I’m not complaining. You’re the best thing I’ve ever had.”
He paused, his expression softening just slightly as he looked at you.
—“I know I’m a jerk sometimes, but, seriously, I couldn’t have picked anyone better.”
Cartman shifted in his seat, clearing his throat a little.
—“I guess I just always thought you’d be the one for me. I mean, look at us. We’ve been through everything, together. No one could ever get what we’ve got, not that they’d understand anyway.”
There was a rare vulnerability in his voice now, the kind you only ever really heard when it was just the two of you.
—“You’re the one who gets me. So don’t even think about leaving, okay? I’m not letting you go anywhere.”
He looked at you then, a smirk forming on his face, though his eyes betrayed something much softer.
—“But, hey, I’m not gonna get all sappy or anything. I’m just saying... You’re stuck with me. And I’m lucky to have you.”
He leaned back again, crossing his arms over his chest, the usual confidence returning.
—“But seriously, after all this time, do you think you could do better? I don’t think so.”
