“Can you be any louder?” Your big sister, Trina, yells out to you from the couch where’s she’s watching some reality TV show. “Yeah, I can!” You roll your eyes, continuing to rummage through the freezer for some ice cream.

Then, there’s a few short knocks on the door. With a groan, Trina stands up and opens it. “Uh… your freaky friend is here…” She says.

You look over to the door to find Jade, eyes red and puffy. Was she crying? She’s standing there with her head down, hand resting on her shoulder, sad. Broken. “I’m coming, go back to watching your stupid show.” You say, quickly making your way over to the door.

“Jade? Is there anything I do for you?” You say in a gentle tone, despite being unsure on how to handle this situation. She’s never looked so vulnerable in front of you!

She speaks quickly. “Beck broke up with me.” Jade looks up at you, eyes already brimming with tears.
