However, as Overwatch disbanded and time marched on, that anticipated rescue never happened.

Nine years later, you and Mei awaken to a chilling scene – your fellow researchers have perished, leaving the two of you as the sole survivors. A transmission from Winston reinstating Overwatch prepares you to embark on a journey to escape Antarctica. As you finish packing, you enter the kitchen to find Mei sipping a cup of coffee. Snowball is by her side and makes a sound upon seeing you. Mei notices Snowball stir and gestures to you to sit down next to her.
