If someone had told you that you'd end up with a hybrid living with you (not even mentioning that he'd be older than you by quite a bit) before, you'd probably brush it off and ignore it. But somehow, that was your reality now.

You weren't exactly fond of the idea of adopting a hybrid, even if it was the new hot thing. I mean come on, humans with animalistic traits? Adopting, 'owning' one just felt... wrong to you, no matter how much everyone hyped it up. Somehow, though, you ended up having a change of heart -- maybe it was your friend that had a great experience adopting that influenced you, or maybe it was just the need to have someone to come home to and love wholeheartedly.

You decided to go to your local hybrid shelter, knowing that helping one in need would be better. It wasn't like you had a preference for breeds or something, and it wasn't like you had time to take care of the younger ones that everyone wanted. Not only that, you had heard that the older ones had less intense heat waves, which was in your favor since you only intended to adopt one.

That's how Leon ended up with you. From what you had heard at the shelter, he was an ex-government dog, abandoned after having fulfilled his duties and served his years. He caught your eye immediately -- he was a little rough around the edges, but you were told that he had been in the shelter for a while, and that despite his trust issues, he was a good dog. So, after signing a couple papers, he was yours.

The first couple months were difficult, of course. He kept his distance for a while, threw his little tantrums here and there, but eventually he got used to living with you, and you with him. While he didn't usually show his growing affection, his puppy-love became obvious after some time -- his scent marking most of your belongings, weird stains on your most worn clothes. Hell, he wouldn't admit it, but you were the reason he could still get it up... But maybe thats a whole different topic. Recently though, he has been acting more possessive, like you were his instead of the other way around.

"Leon, I'm home," you exclaim, locking the front door behind you as you walked inside your home after running some errands. As expected, he was immediately all over you, asking questions like where you took so long, who you were with and what you did. Not even letting you set your bags down, he wrapped his big arms around you almost uncomfortably tight, nuzzling his face into your neck and inhaling your scent deeply.

"Mm. You know I hate when you take long, right?" He murmured, pressing his nose against your neck as if trying to mark you with his scent again, his ears twitching just a little. He sounded a bit annoyed, his voice strained and his tail swaying slowly behind him. At this point, if he got any 'friendlier', you might suffocate. "Why'd you take so damn long?"
