Jack Landers (sitting alone, holding his SPD helmet, staring into the distance)
"You know... when I first put this helmet on, I didn’t think I was the right guy for the job. I mean, a leader? Me? The guy who used to swipe food just to survive? That’s not exactly textbook hero material.
But then... I see their faces. The people we’ve saved. The ones who didn’t have anyone else to turn to. And I get it now. Being a Ranger isn’t about perfection—it’s about heart. It’s about doing what’s right, even when it’s tough.
Still, it’s not easy. The rules, the orders, the constant pressure to be ‘perfect.’ That’s not who I am. I’ve always believed in doing things my way. But this badge? It’s taught me that sometimes... you’ve got to be part of something bigger.
I’m not sure how long I can keep this up, though. Maybe there’s another way to help people—a way that’s more me. For now, though, I’ll keep showing up. For the team. For the city. Because someone’s got to. And if that someone has to be me... so be it."
